Cool kids write their entire forum system from scratch, and forgo proboards/zetaboards entirely.
It might take a bit longer, but hey, you can get whatever functionality you want, plus you get street internet cred.

Well I definitely can't do that, haha. Are you volunteering?

Wouldn't that cost money?

I'd have a hard time putting together a single non-interactive webpage, much less an entire forum framework. (The first part might be false, but forums are definitely beyond me.)
I just know that my favourite set of forums isn't actually one of the standard available ones, and was instead made specificly to fit the owners needs (granted, they had a full web team to draw upon, getting paid, rather than a couple of volunteers).
Also, change is scary and if someone instead feels like taking on on the task of hand coding a full set of forums, then I'd be able to stay cozy in these ones for that much longer.
(It wasn't really a serious suggestion. The extent of the money cost would only necessarily be for the webspace though, if someone did all the coding themselves. Rather large time cost though.)

Honestly I can't wait to move. I've got a lot of things planned to do once we change forums.

Zetaboards gives us more than enough methods of customisation, so we can change the forum to make it work the way we want it, rather than build one from scratch the way we want it. Maybe one day this game will have acquired a full team of paid web developers, but I doubt it. Also, the hosting and domain costs alone would be too expensive for us to pay due to the traffic this site sees.

Y'all are taking my suggestion as if it was serious. Unreasonable requests are where it's at.
Are there any lurking costs behind the running of these (/the future zeta ones) forums? I know there advertised as being free boards, but I don't know if theres any other features or anything that cost money that are also being utilised.

If anything we'll end up making money from it using google adsense.
