Growl

So i'm curious how many people are using Growl? And while we're on the subject: whirlwind and roar?
I've found these moves to be extremely useful on levels such as Mount Moon 2. For example, I place a Vulpix or Pidgeotto or anything with Growl up in the very first set of squares and it becomes very useful later in the level.
Wild pokemon that make it through your gauntlet and grab a fossil can be turned around with any of the before mentioned moves and take the fossil to the back of the cave... or at least back into your mob of pokemon to be killed. Roar and WW are auto turn arounds and Growl seems to have a high success rate.
When combined with moves such as sand attack, it makes those types of levels even easier and saves you a lot of time in the long run.
Very creative spin on growl in my opinion, considering its use in the game boy games. Keep up the great work!

Yeah, I noticed this too, but I hardly use moves like Growl, Roar and Whirlwind nowadays as you don't get any experience points if you don't kill.
But I remember when my Pidgeotto used Whirlwind on an Onix he took a fossil of the middle stack and then he walked down with it, yeah. XD

That's a good point. I've started to use those moves when i'm looking to catch certain rare pokemon and I don't want it to run away... keep it bouncing between Roar and Whirlwind until i'm ready to whittle it down.
That said as long as Growl hits a pokemon and something else kills it you get EXP. That's partly how my Ivysaur got a couple levels ahead of my other pokemon. Moves that have that sort of AoE seem make leveling a breeze.
