My first ever time using photoshop, or doing anything mildly creative I guess. Thought it turned out ok. (See below

Yeh, if you keep it up you'll be the bees knees of photoshopped sigs in no time.

For a first attempt, that's great! My first attempt was definitely worse. Which version of photoshop are you using? Did you understand how layers work? And if you have the .psd (photoshop file), can you upload it? I'd love to take a look at it!

Yeah I followed a quick tutorial to do mine as well. Used something like 4 layers of the render and did some smudging and stuff (although very messily).
Thanks for all the help guys, much appreciated.
p.s. I'm using version cs5

I think it looks pretty legit. Almost good enough for a permanent signature.

It looks really nice! : ) I've also done a Typhlosion-oriented signature. If I may... I did this for Muzik's old SOTW contest that was cut short and deleted since that was the week the staff change happened. This was my first ever signature, no tuts. : P I tried to use one, but I couldn't even understand the first step so I just said screw it and jumped in. Downloaded a few brushes and a pattern, and messed around with it. Not bad, eh? : >
