Update June 4th: A bunch of new shinies instead of my usual VF2 ones, as the pokedex achievement has been enough to temperarely draw me away.
5 x Shiny Kakuna
1 x Shiny Beedrill
1 x Shiny Spearow
2 x Shiny Zubat
1 x Shiny Mankey
Update June 3rd: 4 shinies...
4 x Shiny Kakuna
Update June 2nd: Only 3 shinies today.
3 x Shiny Kakuna
Update June 1st: At long last, a shiny metapod has showed up for me (in red version).
Total catches today (only 4 as I stopped early):
3 x Shiny Kakuna
1 x Shiny metapod
Update May 31st: Fairly uneventful day, only caught 7 shinies.
4 x Shiny Kakuna
2 x Shiny Beedrill
1 x Shiny Butterfree
Accidently murdered a shiny Beedrill. Not particularly bothered by that.
Update May 30th: Slow day, only got 8 shinies today.
2 x Shiny Beedrill
6 x Shiny Kakuna
Update May 29th: I've been visting Cerulean gym a little bit for a change of pace, and what should show up but a shiny abra. Shame they're the hunt shiny now, but still glad to have caught one myself.
Todays catches:
7 x Shiny Beedrill
7 x Shiny Kakuna
2 x Shiny Butterfree
1 x Shiny Abra
Also managed to accidently murder a Shiny Oddish at Cerulean gym 1.
Update May 28th: Todays catches:
8 x Shiny Beedrill
4 x Shiny Kakuna
2 x Shiny Butterfree
Encountered and inadvertantly murdered a shiny weedle while visiting cerulean gym.
Update May 27th: Slightly less busy day for shinies today, I wonder if I was actually just lucky yesterday... Catches for today:
4 x Shiny Kakuna
2 x Shiny Beedrill
Update May 26th: Man shinies are easy now... Todays catches:
9 x Shiny Kakuna
3 x Shiny Beedrill
Today also mark the catching of my 100th pokemon. Maxxing out over a dozen shiny kakunas (I almost never evolve caught shinies if I can catch the evolved form directly) is going to be a blast.
Update May 24th: So shinies are on easy mode now. I didn't get to play much today, but even in the little time I had, I found two shiny beedrills. I also took a new picture this time showing it before it used harden.
Update May 22: Another shiny beedrill. Been thinking I should try and get a pic of me catching one before it's used harden, but I almost missed this one entirely, much less cuaght it prior to it using harden.
Update May 21st: Shiny kakuna almost experianced rapture, but I ended up capturing it instead. That makes what, 7 shiny kakunas now? Wheres pika...
8ish minutes later, another shiny kakuna joined me.
Update May 20th: Another shiny butterfree for my collection (in red version no less). Still no shiny pika or shiny metapod though.
Update May 18th: You'd think a metapod would like to show up by now, or better yet a pika. But no. Another shiny kakuna joins me.
**A certain former admin has supplied me with a (lvl 1) shiny mew which he believably got from Sam. Glad to have recieved one of those non-catchables without needing to resort to the public trading game. Theres still a tiny chance it's not legit as I didn't get it directly from Sam, but it's probably as good as I'm going to get since I don't want to spend real money on ninja-ja or anything else like that.
Update May 15th: ...And another shiny kakuna.
Update May 14th: Yet another shiny kakuna captured.
Update May 13th: A shiny kakuna just showed up. Would rather a pika or even a metapod though...
Update May 10th: Another shiny butterfree. Clearly my game id deeply confused about it's status as red version, since I should have more beedrills than butterfrees, not vice versa.
Update May 9th: A shiny butterfree appears (this is in red version, so all the rarer):
I'm thinking if I encounter repeats I'll catch them, but probably won't post pictures, just give a text comment on it. Shiny pika remains ever elusive.
Blimey, a second shiny butterfree has just shown up. That's 2 in the span of an hour or so.
And now another shiny kakuna has shown up. It's a good night for shinies. o.O
A Shiny beedrill just joined the party. Someone needs to invite pikachu.
Update May 8th: Shiny Beedrill:
Of course, it turns out it's the one I least wanted since I accidently evolved the kakuna below, but hey, any shiny is a good shiny.
Right, so I've been around a bit (primarily on the chat), and rather than make a new thread for each particular achievment, I figured I'd make a little thread for everything I've done, and to put pics of each shiny as I catch them.
So then, first off, I have a lvl 25 version of every pokemon available to catch in red version currently, including each of the pre-evolutions. (So I have a level 25 weedle and a level 25 kakuna and a lvl 25 beedrill for example.)
A few days ago I managed to get a shiny starter code from Sam in a chat contest, so I have a shiny charmeleon currently. I also have shiny pidgey/pidgeottos, shiny geodude/gravellers, and shiny jigglypuff/wigglytuff from the hunts/challenge mode.
As far as shiny hunting goes, I've been on the hunt for a shiny pikachu since release, and have been counting the regular pikachus. Currently I'm at 2525 pikachus without a shiny, hunting at VF2.
Note that for all of my shiny hunting I use a single window only, and no speedhacks or anything like that. I generally do my hunting with no pokemon out, thus I'm relatively poor compared to some of my fellow shiny hunters who have pokemon out while they hunt for shinies.
Now then, the real reason that prompted me to make this thread:
Shiny kakuna decided to show up for me. I chose to take the picture before actually catching it so people could see what a wild shiny actually looks like, since many people haven't been convinced that they do indeed show up with a red bar.
Level 36 pokemon: 10/167
Pokemon I'm missing: Assorted catchable shinies, shiny starters minius shiny charizard.
My money: ~1.21 Million
If people have any questions or anything else they think I should add, feel free to post.
