I'll probably be looking to trade my duplicate shinies for shinies I'm missing when the time comes, so go hunting and maybe you'll get something to offer. Or you might even get one yourself and not need to trade.

Another shiny Beedrill. Why does pikachu want to stay home during this shiny party?

Shiny starters are potentially of interest, and potentially worth more than one of my own shinies. But, I'll have to see how secure the trading process is when it's implemented, as I don't need people running off with my hard earned shinies, nor do I want to get a pile of magicly duped shiny starters/mews or anythign that's otherwise not legit.
I haven't decided if I'll be interested in a shiny pika trade though, having spent so much time pika hunting it'd feel a waste to just trade for one at this stage. With any luck I'll have one by the time trading is released, but then that's probably wishful thinking.

Excuse the double post, but I'm on page 3. In other news, boo (relatively) easy shiny rate, making most of my current shinies somewhat less prestigious. I don't anticipate being involved in multiplayer at all (since it'll most likely cost money for one, but other reasons too). I figure in light of shinies being comparatively common now, my interest in catching all shinies in the wild rather than trading for them is doubly so, in an effort to extract whatever achievement is left in that. Many people will have all shinies earned through trading (most likely getting duped/hacked pokemon in the process) long before me, but I'll have pictures of every wild shiny being caught in the long run at least. (I also aim to have a maxxed version of every pokemon at every evolution stage, but that's relatively easy.) ...it's very much a shame I didn't manage to get a shiny pika at the old rate after spending what would be in excess of a month on it now.

Yeah, i got most of my shinies through trading. i caught my shiny butterfree, beedrill, pika, nido's, mankey and spearow, and of course i got all the promo pokes legit, but everything else traded to me. the thing is, i dont see what the big problem people have about 'if i trade, i might get a duplicated or hacked poke !!11!1!!!11'. If it is, so what? it isnt YOU thats cheated. I will feel just as good about getting hold of any shiny legitimately through trading (even if what i get isnt legit, its like working and getting paid some counterfeit money, they way you got it is fine) as if i spent hours trying to catch it in the wild.. ie i dont feel any more accomplished about the shiny pika i caught in VF2 than the mew i had traded me.

The concern about getting a shiny through trading is because that's theoretically much easier to do, since people are much more likely to trade away their duped/hacked pokemon (after all, they can just dupe/hack more), where as someone who spent a month legitly hunting for say, a shiny clefairy, is somewhat less likely to trade it away.
Thus, even if you spend weeks getting a bunch of different shinies to trade for a shiny mew, so you feel you've 'earned' the mew and it's a more than fair trade, in a totally legit world it'd probably still take awhile to actually find someone willing to trade their shiny mew. With all the hacked/duped ones around, you can find people to trade you one for free practically within a day.
If you get achievement from collecting all the shinies via trading, by all means go for it, and it's certainly better than outright hacking yourself. Within reason, it's certainly an accomplishment (not so much if you just get your hacker buddy to hook you up with shiny everything, but y'know), it's just I personally find actually personally getting all the shinies myself to be a bigger achievement than relying on others.
